Scents by Sandy is a small home-based business in Oswego, New York. I have been a nurse since 1992 and have always been intrigued with the idea of pampering myself with natural products containing healing herbs and essential oils. I was constantly on the hunt for a fragrant moisturizer or rich lathering soap. In my search I found that many store-bought products contain harsh chemicals and fillers. I began doing research through books and the internet. Soon I realized that there are ways to create luxurious products using simple ingredients created by nature. I then began experimenting in my kitchen, using my family, friends, and co-workers as my critics. The response was astounding and soon a small business was born.

   I am very careful in my product and ingredient selection to keep them as natural as possible. Unfortunately, without preservatives lotions and creams would grow bacteria, mold, and fungus, so it is essential for these to be added to ensure safety and give the products a reasonable shelf life. The preservatives used are primarily derived from plants and are known to be mild and safe. Fragrance oils and colors which are partly synthetic but have not been shown to have any harmful effects have also been added to some of the products. No animal testing is done on these products.

I recommend using the butters, salts, creams, oils, and mists within 6 months. The lotions and shower gels have an extended shelf life of 1 year.
